PLAY Spotlight: Topgolf Orlando

August 4, 2026

Let’s get one thing straight: you do not need to have swung a golf club since your cousin’s mini-golf birthday party in 2009 to have a good time here. That’s the whole trick of Topgolf Orlando. The climate-controlled bays mean you’re not standing out in July soup-air trying to look competent while sweat rolls into your eyes — you’re in air conditioning, drink in hand, aiming at giant dartboard-style targets on the range below, and the microchipped balls do the scoring for you. Nobody’s counting your whiffs except the screen, and honestly it’s kinder about it than your friends would be.

The layout on International Drive works because it splits the difference between “night out” and “activity.” You’ve got three stories of bays, which means even on a packed Saturday there’s usually room, and the games scale from total beginner (there’s a setting that basically turns it into carnival skee-ball with a driver) to genuinely dialed-in accuracy challenges if you’ve actually got a swing. Order off the full menu while you play — the wings and the loaded queso are the move, not because they’re fine dining but because they’re exactly what you want in your hand between shots — and the bar keeps a rotation going so the group can split a pitcher without anyone having to leave the bay to fetch it.

Where it earns its keep is as the great equalizer for mixed groups. Family in from out of town, work happy hour that needs an activity so people actually talk, first date where mini-golf felt too try-hard and a bar felt too flat — this splits the difference. Nobody’s an expert, nobody’s totally lost, and there’s enough structure (leaderboards, games, targets lighting up) to keep a group of eight from fracturing into side conversations for three hours straight.

Go on a weekday evening, roughly 5 to 7, if you want bays without a wait and happy hour pricing still in effect; weekends after 8pm turn it into more of a scene, louder and date-night heavy, which has its own appeal if that’s what you’re after. Book the bay in advance either way — walk-ins on a Friday night are a gamble. Order the queso, get a bay for 90 minutes minimum, and don’t overthink your swing. Nobody else is.
