Starflyer on I-Drive Orlando to Open May 11, 2018
MAY 11, 2018 OPENING DATE FOR STARFLYER ON IDrive Orlando. StarFlyer will be located next to the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye in a complex known as The Vue at 360. Other tenants include the Kings Orlando bowling alley and Vincenzo Italiano.
Crews are currently installing sections of the ride, which stack up like Lego bricks. “They go one on top of each other, and they will go very, very quickly,” said Chuck Whittall, Unicorp's president. “We’re going to have people riding them in two months.” StarFlyer will stand at 450 feet, about 50 feet taller than the nearby Orlando Eye. Twenty-two riders at a time will be taken to the top of the tower and swung around at 60 mph. “You’re going to have to have a little stomach for it,” Whittall said. “You go up on it and you may need your Dramamine.” The tower is anchored by a concrete base. Dubbed the “world’s tallest swing ride,” StarFlyer will also feature a café and ice cream shop in the entrance building. Westgate Resorts will also have an office there. The Vue at 360 will also have an 11,000-square-foot hotel; however, a timetable for the project has not been released.
Be on the lookout for soft openings for StarFlyer before the May 11 debut. Here are more pictures of the construction from our @idriveorlando instagram page.
